Complete a 2-Year Progress Check

How to complete the statutory 2-Year Progress Check for a child.

Where to find it

  1. Go to Children and open the child’s profile.

  2. Open EYFS Reports (this reflects the guidance you’ve selected: Development Matters 2021 or Birth to 5 Matters).

    Both frameworks use the same Monitoring Titles, so they produce the same style of reports.
    Need to change frameworks? See Settings → Learning Frameworks.

Create the report

  1. In the list of reports, select 2-Year Progress Check.

  2. Set the date for the report (top left).

Fill in the report

  1. Complete the Prime areas (Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development).

    • Specific areas are optional—toggle them on if you want to add comments.

  2. For each area, select the child’s current stage from the drop-down:

    • Area to support

    • Working towards

    • On track

    • Working beyond

  3. Use the Observations viewer (icon next to Monitoring) to see previous observations while you write. This helps you reference evidence directly.

  4. Add Next Steps and Parent/Carer comments (optional but recommended).

Save, share, or export

  1. Save the report.

  2. If needed, Download (PDF for sharing/printing, CSV for analysis) via the download icon in the top-right.

Tips

  • Keep notes concise and evidence-based; reference key observations where helpful.

  • Agree Next Steps with parents/carers and record their comments.

  • You can update the report later if new information becomes available.
